This year is our 8th annual South Coast Clean Up.
It’s all about community!
We invite you, members of the public, schools, businesses, local groups and organisations to join us and hundreds of thousands of volunteers around the world taking part in the Ocean Conservancy project’s International Coastal Clean-up week.
We are all volunteers from Wellington’s southern suburbs, keen to keep our coastline free of waste, to help preserve our coastline’s natural beauty and look after our oceans and the wildlife that lives there.
We’ll be collecting at 12 different sites around the coast, from Owhiro Bay through to Breaker Bay. We welcome groups…if you are more than 6 people please contact firstname.lastname@example.org, or 021 1502879, and we’ll see where your group would be the most help.
There will be prizes for pictures of the most interesting rubbish find! So, keep an eye out! Also lots of other spot prizes this year ..more later.
All rubbish will be gathered up around 12.00 and taken to Lyall Bay to form one large pile. At 12.30 there will be a sausage sizzle (including vegetarian) near the playground area where participants can mingle and meet each other…share stories and celebrate our collective achievement.
A massive thank you once again to Kilbirnie Pak’nSav and Island Bay Butchery for supplying the goods for our celebratory barbecue.
What to Bring:
Bags and gloves are available, but if you already have some suitable gloves at home please bring them to help us to reduce the waste made by the event.
