Restoring and strengthening Lyall Bay Beach

We are working on parts of Lyall Bay beach to make sure this valuable recreational area is protected against future storms.

Block wall extension at eastern end of the beach (via http://wellington.govt.nz/)

We are extending the existing block wall along the middle section of the beach that currently only has wire mesh fencing. The new section of the wall will stretch from opposite 2 Lyall Bay Parade to opposite 74 Kingsford Smith Street.

The storm water pipe in this area will also be extended by approximately 4 metres to allow the dune to form and the extended block wall will also help with this.

During construction, parts of the footpath will be closed and the site will be isolated using temporary traffic management signs and barriers.

Work will begin in early October 2016. The new stretch of wall is expected to be finished in late November 2016. (Please note this has been delayed: The council will advise us when they are able with new work dates)
